Since the release of Destroy To Create (2005 Stomp Records/Warner Music), THE FLATLINERS have toured 9 Canadian provinces and 28 states, alongside such notable acts as: Bad Religion, Anti-Flag, The Suicide Machines, Death By Stereo, Big D & the Kids Table, None More Black, No Use For A Name, The Loved Ones, Catch 22, the Voodoo Glow Skulls, Bigwig, etc., including dates on the 2006 and 2007 Vans Warped Tour... all before reaching the age of 20.

Two years after their debut album won over fans and music critics all over Canada and the US with its catchy melding of ska-punk anthems, they are back with a new sound, a new international label, and a very promising future. Hand picked by Fat Mike himself after hearing some demo recordings, THE FLATLINERS are the newest band to join the Fat Wreck Chords family.

The Great Awake is the long awaited sophomore release from the Toronto-based quartet. In keeping with what worked on their last record, the producer's chair was filled again by Steve Rizun (Hostage Life, The Creepshow, Closet Monster) but this time around the recording process was not interrupted by the band members' high-school careers. After locking themselves in their rehearsal space for 2 months, the band came out with over 20 new songs, 12 of which make up the new LP. The new material embraces the gritty punk rock sound that they have grown up listening to. The influences ring loud and clear as they unite many forms of underground rock into one package.

Through punk rock anthems, reggae jams, hints of hardcore and balls out rock n' roll, this record showcases the band's prowess in a variety of styles. The maturity of the sound and lyrics do not betray their age, while the catchy and powerful songs do not deny the needs of their ever-growing audience. With great new music, new alliances, and a relentless touring schedule, this audience can only grow, as THE FLATLINERS evolve into artists that stand-out among their peers on an international stage.

it's easy - the scene is you, passionate people who love music, go to shows, buy and distribute records, question the establishment and the way of consumption in this so-called modern western world. we see this band as our chance to express our own (individual) freedom. as being alternative has become a sellout itself, there's a new level of political punkrock content. there has to be!

it is not about being bigger, faster or somewhat better than anyone.
it is not about competing, dressing stylishly or waving flags.
it is about
the content of the mind and the heart, not only ours, but of everybody believing in true alternative music, setting up shows, providing food and places to sleep, yet keeping this spirit as DIY as it always had to be!

this is an animal-friendly, anti-racist, anti-sexist, movement to deny human nature.
we will go down, but we can still decide how!

Da hat wohl jemand zuviel Zeit seiner Jugendtage in der Disco verbracht, denn wer so unverschämt Electrosounds mit Rock verbindet, hat seine Disco-Vergangenheit wohl nie vergessen können. Der letzte Output der österreichischen Elektropunks („A Ghost and the Queen“, 2008) weiß Fanbase und Fachpresse zu überzeugen, immer schön nach vorne, immer den Synth dabei, und Disco, ganz viel Disco. Live wird eine Electroparty der Sonderklasse zelebriert, Neon & Leuchtstäbchen halten Einzug. Man kann ein hammergeiles Konzert erwarten. Garantiert.

Seit 2004 über 120 Konzerte und Touren im In- und Ausland (England, Deutschland, Niederlande, Tschechien, Slowenien, Ungarn, Slovakei etc.), vor ausverkauftem Haus mit u.a. MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE, DONOTS, MY PASSION, AMERICAN STEEL, ROE DEER, FIRE IN THE ATTIC… Airplay im TV bei den Red Bull Air-Races in San Francisco, Perth, Budapest und Istanbul; Airplay auf FM 4, RADIO ORANGE, FIKSZ RADIO (HU), CHURCH OF NOIZE, RADIO MARKANT (NL), Soundtrack für etliche Extreme-Sport-DVD's und für "Sturmfrei - Der Film" (ab Februar 2009 in den Kinos).

blasting out of a dirty basement's rehearsal room there comes the straight forward punkrock sound of austria's very own ASTPAI. think of paint it black meets kid dynamite meets none more black, never lacking a sense in melody and sing-a-longs. this heavy rocking hardcore/punk sound comes along with strong political views and offers some new ideas without just presenting shallow paroles and drained statements. this young band managed to release 3 full length releases in the past and is now holding their strongest release to date in hands called corruption concealed (under deceptive slogans), released by rise or rust records for austria, fond of life records for the rest of europe and jump start records for the us. after a busy year of 2008 including a 5 weeks tour along the east coast of the usa and a 3 week tour throughout western european parts and the uk, ASTPAI just put out their latest recordings as one half of a split-cd-release (digipak!) with uk's very own attack! vipers! from portsmouth through we heart records for the uk and laserlife records for parts of the european mainland. further distribution in progress! recordings for a 3rd full length album are scheduled for early 2009 as well as more touring both east- and westwards. Well, our adventure started in 2002. It was a nice day and we decided to start a band. At first, the concept was a traditional punk rock band – no ska involved like yet. But as time went by we started to mix punk and ska – the outcome is the sound that you know as THE ECCOS – pure ska punk at it’s best.

New friends joined and some of them left the band but the concept was always the same. Despite all the line up changes, we tried to play as many shows as possible in clubs around our hometown and abroad, (birthday) parties, festivals and a lot more. The goal was to play - it didn’t matter where or when. We were young kids with an overdose of energy and a great desire to give it all at every show. We always try to connect fun on stage with leaving a message to the lads. There was a point, after that project was no longer just making music, more to the truth it became a way of life for us all.

We loved the fact that we started to be more than just a band. Nowadays, the band - "The Eccos" - is our way to lead our energies – bad or good ones – to fulfil and identify ourselves with it. It became our way of escaping from reality, where we work in jobs we don’t like for money we don’t need! We’re talking, singing, writing and thinking about revolutionary and humanitarian topics like sexism, fascism, racism, slavery as well as animal liberation and environment pollutions and many more problems, that we think the world should face.

After more than more than 150 shows in AT, GER, HU, CZ, SK and SL we shared the stage with bands like Panteon Rococo (MEX), The Locos (ex Ska-P ESP), Rantanplan (GER), Karamelo Santo (ARG), Argies (ARG), Streetlight Manifesto (ex Catch22 USA), The Toy Dolls (UK), Emil Bulls (GER), The Peepshows (SWE), Stroh (ESP), Kafkas (GER), Planet Smashers (CAN) and many many more...

So... Now, every time you join an Eccos show you do not just support a band! No, you’re supporting a scene, a cause, a different lifestyle which we call unity, a unity to make the world a happier and safer place.

The Cassidy scenario (oö|ex estate)

When Estate saw the end of the road in 2007 it was high time to bring back unconstraint to the remaining band members. Playing music was their life and it seemed so farcical that it had become so automatic, almost heartless. Bernd/Cassidy: "The death of Estate was not the end but the beginning. For the remaining four of us it was out of the question to continue playing music together and to rediscover us as musicians, persons and friends.” So here they are, The Cassidy Scenario, breathing in and out.

The Cassidy Scenario’s output is punk and it’s hardcore. But most of all it’s an ‘up the backside’ to a scene that sees melody and catchiness as a taboo that excludes complexity and deepness in songwriting and lyricism. This band bends and breaks the boundaries of the term “melodic hardcore” and finds new ways of creating complex, explosive and tuneful music.

Taking a range of diverse influences, not the least of which include Will Haven, This Is Hell, Modern Life Is War, Poison The Well and Comeback Kid, The Cassidy Scenario released a 2-song demo in May 2008. Bernd/Cassidy on this first sign of life: "Writing these first two songs felt like going back to what music originally meant to us… not conforming to any trend or expectations." This f.u. attitude showcases The Cassidy Scenario’s ability to evolve as a unique band far from the rest of the hardcore pack.

A restless ‘on the road’ attitude and lifestyle combined with their excellent musicianship makes the band a winner at every show they play. Bernd about The Cassidy Scenario’s greatest passion: "Being on stage and playing music means the world to us. Over the years it has become so much like home. With the new fire in Cassidy things have grown even more intense than with Estate”.

If the band’s kickoff is any indication of how serious the guys in The Cassidy Scenario are about going their own way and taking every further step on the ladder with adamant dedication, then it’s apparent that the next few years are going to be quite the ride.

The Vladivostoks - A short Hystery

Teil 1 - Die Idee

Wahrhaft große Dinge geschehen immer im Verborgenen. So stehen am Anfang der Vladivostoks Gestalten, welchen man damals wohl nicht ansah, dass ihr plötzliches Auftreten in der Geschichte dereinst den Beginn einer Entwicklung markiert, welche nun in den Vladivostoks ihre vollendung findet.
Im lauen Frühling 1999 war es, als sich zwei unscheinbare Akteure auf der großen Brühne des Lebens begegneten. Genauer gesagt auf einer Party im sagenumwobenen Gasthaus Draxler im heutigen Pframa.
Johnny M. trifft auf Jonas und ein Gedanke ward geboren "He, wir machen eine Band!" "Die netten Elfen von nebenan" waren geboren (später auch "Die fetten Elfen von nebenan", "Janosch",...) und so sah das Line-Up aus:

Ganz schön viele Leute, mag man sich denken, dieses Problem löste sich aber nach und nach von selbst.

Teil 2 - Die Legende

Ein Jahr und einige Personal- sowie Namensänderungen später enststeht aus dieser Kaulquappe der Musik die wahrhaftige Kröte des Terrorpop, die legendäre Band "Robotnic" von der sich noch heute die Großeltern vieler Kinder erzählen. Michi M. wechselte von Schlagzeug zu Mikrofon und Michi S. (alias Mike Nielson) setzt sich an die Trommeln. Bettina und Bernhard bleiben an Bass und Gitarre erhalten. Michi Ms Flügelhorn aus Blasmusikzeiten findet endlich in die, als "improvisierten Polka Rock" zu beschreibende Musik, Einzug.
Auftritte enden gelegentlich mit (fast) Schlägereien mit Nazi-Hooligans oder werden von der Polizei aufgelöst. Man meldet sich bei diversen Bandwettbewerben an und belegt z.B. bei der Ostrock Trophy den 4. Platz (von 5, in der Vorrunde, wohlgemerkt...)
Plötzlich taucht Manu (heute bekannt als Jan Niklas) auf und startet mit Michi M. ein ambitioniertes Nebenprojekt -> die "Cubetones" sind geboren uns keiner ahnt, was das für Folgen haben wird.

Teil 3 - Die Reformation

Nachdem Robotnic zerbricht und Michi S. nun bei den Cubetones trommelt, geht bei dem einstigen Nebenprojekt einiges weiter: Die Band wird punkiger und in "Judy Blume Superfudge" umgetauft.
Es folgt die "wir-nennen-uns-bei-jedem-Konzert-anders" Zeit, eine Zeit der Identitätssuche der Band, in der auch vermehrt Ska-Einflüsse Eingang in die Musik finden. Als 2002 der Tag kommt, an dem es heißt "wir heißen heute "The Vladivostoks"" hat die Band ihre Bestimmung gefunden.
Mit Alex (Sander Mendoza) stößt auch wieder ein Bassist zur Band. Erste Erfolge stellen sich ein und erstmals wird 2003 das Finale der Ostrock-Trophy, dem größten Bandwettbewerb Ostösterreichs erreicht. Nachdem der neue Name nun schon auf einigen Flyern und Plakaten stand, gewöhnte man sich an ihn und er blieb der Band bis heute erhalten.

Teil 4- Es ist vollbracht

2004 wird die letzte Lücke gefüllt: Der virtuose Gitarrist Stefan (alias Ivan Cardozo, ehemals bei der 2004 aufgelösten HC-Ska-Punk Combo Resistate) wird in die Band aufgenommen und verstärkt diese fortan an der Gitarre. Viele Auftritte mit so manchen Aushängeschild der österreichischen und auch internationalen Musikszene folgen (z.B. 2006 mit den Leningrad Cowboys). Auch bei der guten alten Ostrock Trophy spielt man wieder mit und erreicht 2005 das Finale, wo man nur knapp 2. wird und bei dem Open-Air Spekatkel am Sportplatz in Fischamend neue Maßstäbe setzt und mit 93 Stimmen den eigenen Publikumsstimmenrekord von 2003 bricht. 2006 war es schließlich so weit: Die Ostrock Trophy fand in den allseits beliebten Vischamends Vriends, (Insider wissen über gewisse personelle und musikalische Überschneidungen mit den Vladivosoks Bes

Mit ihrem Mix aus melodischen Punkrock und Hardcore der alten Schule bringen sie nicht nur ihre Zuhörerschaft in Bewegung, sie decken auch soziale Missstände auf und zwar ohne ein Blatt vor den Mund zu nehmen. Melodischer Hardcore-Punk ohne jegliche Einflüsse der momentan so überpräsenten Emo Bewegung.

7YEARSBADLUCK plays poppunk driven by energy, short nights and a certain kind of world weariness & heartbreak that we have heard in Samiam, Jawbreaker or The Alkaline Trio. Since 2001 this Austrian threesome brings sweat to numerous basements and stages across Europe, without conforming to the usual Poppunk stereotypes. Over the years 7YEARSBADLUCK has released 2 full-length albums and 2 EPs and has shared the stage with bands like The Lawrence Arms, Venerea, Useless I.D., The Flatliners, Shelter, Ten Foot Pole, The Groovie Ghoulies, De Heideroosjes, Off With Their Heads, Mike Park and so on.

Einen halben Deutschen nervt die Musik in Österreich also schnappt er sich drei wertvolle Künstler aus der Pampa, mit denen er die Bretter, die die Welt bedeuten, erklimmen will.
Das war 1999, nahe Wien, und so formatierte sich aus Qrl, Pedro, Sto und Id, was sich wie ein Virus durch dieses junge Jahrtausend zieht: STAY-due-BEAUTY
Eine Band mit einem Namen, der keiner ist, und dem Ziel die perfekte Mischung aus Punk und Kabarett zu performen.
Schon 2001 wurde die erste EP "FAILED" aufgenommen, was dann auch prompt dazu führte, dass Id erkannte, dass er gar keinen Punkrock spielen wollte, weswegen er die Band noch im selben Jahr verließ. Auch der Rest schien desillusioniert und man widmete sich anderen Dingen zu. Sto betrieb Vergangenheitsbewältigung, Qrl verfiel dem Techno, Pedro seiner damaligen Freundin...

Erst zwei Jahre und einige hundert Exzesse später, lief sich das Überbleibsel der einst so aufstrebenden Musikgruppe wieder über den Weg. Völlig ausgebrannt (sowohl geistig, als auch finanziell) entschieden Pedro, Qrl und Sto, ein Comeback der Superlative zu starten, um wieder an Geld zu kommen, welches wiederum in Exzesse investiert werden könnte.
Also nimmt man einen Millionenkredit auf um ein Studio zu bauen, räumt den Freundinnen - sofern noch vorhanden - weniger Zeit ein und greift wieder zu den verstaubten Musikinstrumenten, da der Kredit für neues Equipment dann doch nicht gereicht hat. Gesagt getan und ein halbes Jahr später waren die Jungs auch schon wieder drauf und dran die zweite EP "LOW-BUTSHIT" zu recorden. Release: August 2004...

Und wiedermal standen Veränderungen ins Haus, doch diesmal vermehrten sich die Beauties auf seltsame Weise. Haui, ehemals Mitglied bei der SkaPunkCombo THE ECCOS, stieß dazu und übernahm Id´s Erbe. Nach den ersten schüchternen Annäherungsversuchen, nahmen sich die drei ein Herz und verprügelten Haui einmal so richtig, um klar zustellen, dass ein guter Ton nicht zwingend auch zu guter Musik führt...
Seitdem waren die vier die besten Freunde!
Ende 2005 begann ein Aufnahmeprozess der ursprünglich ein ganzes Jahr lang anhalten sollte, denn STAY-due-BEAUTY beschlossen jedes Monat einen neuen selbst produzierten Song zum Download anzubieten. Im Nachhinein betrachtet, war es wohl klar, dass Ende 2006 sicher keine zwölf sondern nur sieben Songs online stehen würden, aber was solls - sloppy counts!!! Der Hauptgrund mag wohl an der Tatsache liegen, dass 2006 das Jahr mit den meisten Liveshows war, Sto sich nach Israel verliebte und es immer absehbarer wurde, dass er die Band nicht bis zum bitteren Ende begleiten würde.

Anfang 2007 war die Katze aus dem Sack: Sto outete sich als Hippie und vertraute den restlichen Beauties an, dass er sich mit Oktober des Jahres von der Band verabschieden würde - begleitet von einer unglaublich brutalen Schlägerei!!!
Natürlich brachte diese grundlegende Veränderung ein oder zwei Folgen mit sich...
Konsequenz1: Ein erster/letzter Longplayer musste her
Konsequenz2: Ein neuer Drummer musste her
So entstand das erste Album, stilecht als DIY, mit dem Titel "IN GOODS WE TRUST", welches im August 07 veröffentlicht wurde und den Jungs nun zu neuen Höhenflügen verhelfen soll. Parallel dazu proben STAY-due-BEAUTY seit Juni mit Dr. Martin Huth am Schlagzeug. Einigen mag dieser Name bekannt vorkommen, denn der Doktor war bereits als Schlagwerker der Band NEVERGREEN zu Gange.

Live schlägt die Combo eine Brücke zwischen politischer Ernsthaftigkeit und zynischem Punkrockkabarett, definiert durch schnelle aber auch langsame(?), sowohl fragmenthafte als auch perfekt arrangierte Songs, die zum abrocken animieren.
Weiterhin gilt: Qrl ist ein Tyrann, Pedro ist immer und überall tight, Hauis Styling sitzt und den Doktor werden wir alle noch kennen lernen...

An dieser Stelle sollte noch der Mercher John J. Rimbo erwähnt werden, der die Band seit Jahren unaufhörlich disst und beschimpft, was den eigentlichen Grund darstellt, warum sich das moralische Niveau der Band noch immer im Sinkflug befindet!
